Desiree Alejandro

    Desiree AlejandroHaving begun her career in opera as a singer, Desiree Alejandro has successfully transitioned to the production side of the business, and has gained a reputation as an effective Stage Manager, Assistant Stage Director, and Producer. During her time at the University of Houston, where she earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, Desiree worked for UH’s opera program both on stage and backstage, and went on to perform in both capacities at Amarillo Opera. Since moving to New York City, she has worked in production for such companies as Gravity Shift, Bronx Opera, dell’Arte Opera Ensemble, Opera Hispanica, TriCentric Foundation, and the National Yiddish Theater. She has been part of the creation of numerous opera productions, including Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, Il trittico, La gazza ladra, Hansel and Gretel, Albert Herring, The Grapes of Wrath, La bohème, Kirke Mechem’s The Rivals, L’incoronazione di Poppea, Falstaff, Maria de Buenos Aires, Rinaldo, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Desiree has recently teamed with group of producers dedicated to providing concert experiences for the communities of Harlem and Upper Manhattan. A native of Fritch, Texas, she now resides in Harlem.
